The backwards telescope of the left

Mark Steyn:

...........But suppose the ''Anyone But Bush'' bumper-sticker set got their way; suppose he and Cheney and Rummy and all the minor supporting warmongers down to yours truly were suddenly vaporized in 20 seconds' time. What then?

Nothing, that's what. The jihad's still there. Kim Jong Il's still there. The Iranian nukes are still there. The slyer Islamist subversion from south-east Asia to the Balkans to northern England goes on, day after day after day. And one morning we'll switch on the TV and the smoke and flames will be on this side of the Atlantic, much to President Rodham's surprise. Bush hatred is silly and parochial and reductive: History is on the march and the anti-Bush crowd is holding the telescope the wrong way round..........

Ted doesn't Just Drown Women!

Report of Ted Kennedy hatefully working with the enemy against the USA:

................As Mr. Kengor concludes, "if the memo is in fact an accurate account of what transpired, it constitutes a remarkable example of the lengths to which some on the political left, including a sitting U.S. senator, were willing to go to stop Ronald Reagan."
We agree. Even in a jaded world, it is breathtaking to discover a U.S. senator -- brother of a former president -- actively and secretly collaborating with Soviet leaders in an attempt to undermine the president of the United States' nuclear defense policy during the height of the cold war.

Al Gore - Charlatan

Jay Homnick evaluates the great Tennessee fraud:

.....How utterly creepy! Here is a man who solved an old case with new science, who is hardly a crank of any stripe, being scoffed at by a world-class fraud. What has Gore ever done to help a single real person? What are his scientific qualifications? He has no science background or degree of any kind. He is the one signing on to a massive conspiratorial fantasy worthy of Chicken Little. Suddenly the Earth is burning up? And we have the power to reverse it? Each of those premises is a patent absurdity worthy of The Emperor's New Clothes. Fairy tales..........

Politics and "CW"

Michelle Malkin provides a good summary pre-election:

For all the White House's faults, however, there is no doubt in my mind that Republicans as a group are better informed, better equipped and better able to lead this country in a time of war than the Democrats. The donkey party is led by thumb-sucking demagogues in prominent positions who equate Bush with Hitler and Jim Crow, call him a liar in front of high school students and the world, fantasize about impeachment and fetishize the human rights of terrorists who want to kill me.

Put simply: There are no grown-ups in the Democrat Party.

VDH again - Demos' hate

Dr Hanson speaks truly:

To compensate, leftist pundits, billionaire philanthropists and politicians, from current officeholders to former presidents, work to ensure that isolated moments of Republican ineptness (George Bush strutting on a carrier deck in his flight suit) and wrongdoing (repulsive e-mails from a perverted Rep. Mark Foley) blare out as the only issues of the day. This distracting drumbeat, not their own agenda, is the only strategy for success in the next election.

Voting

Tony Blankley exhorts us to vote:

There is no rational policy or political basis for conservatives not voting. I'm not sure the country can take the current Democratic mob in power for long.

A realist once observed that the history of mankind is little more than the triumph of the heartless over the mindless.

The Democrats are obviously heartless. Conservatives must guard against falling into the category of the mindless. Ignore your heartfelt peevements, use your brains and vote.

Green religion

Debra Saunders recognizes the latest left wing "religion":

Global warming is a religion, not science. That's why acolytes in the media attack global-warming critics not with scientific arguments, but for their apostasy. Then they laud global-warming believers not for reducing greenhouse gases, but simply for believing global warming is a coming catastrophe caused by man. The important thing is to have faith in those who warn: The end is near....................

.......................
"Consensus" is another word for clique science. The good people are true believers, the bad people exhibit a "will to disbelieve." Editors used to salute healthy skepticism. Now some are global-warming Torquemadas.

Norks 10, Clinton/Carter - Zero

More of less:

The Clinton legacy, already shredding because of his inability to deal with al Qaeda and terrorism, has just been dealt yet another -- perhaps mortal -- blow by Clinton and Carter's foolish trust in the North Korean father and son dictators. But more importantly, the problem now is that Democrats are running for House and Senate seats all over the nation supporting some version of this very same appeasement policy towards Iraq, the War on Terror, and critically, Iran.

Hypocrites?....You betcha!

Ben Stein nails the sanctimonious bastards:

But the hypocrisy comes in because the Democrats have as their dean in the Senate an actual former Klansman, Robert Byrd of West Virginia. In my very clear memory, the whole bulk of the senior Democrats routinely called blacks "nigras" and voted against any kind of civil rights laws, right down to anti-lynching laws. And this is the party that presumes to judge a man because he owns a Civil War artifact memorializing incredible American courage? Didn't we just recently have as President a Democrat from Georgia who was inches away from being a segregationist in his early career? And what did his state flag look like when he was governor? And George Allen is being judged by these people?

Again, for sheer hypocrisy, the winner is: the Democratic Party. Again.
